Welcome to Wyoming Outdoor Weekend & Expo, where we celebrate our Wyoming outdoors. Join us for our 12th Annual Event on May 15-16, 2026, at the Lander Community and Convention Center. Explore the premier outdoor recreation opportunities and vendors in Fremont County and the surrounding area. FREE ADMISSION! Come and be a part of our mission to promote the local economy, engage in conservation efforts, and experience the wonders of Wyoming’s wildlife resources. WOW Mission: The Wyoming Outdoor Weekend (WOW) has been put on through a partnership between the Lander Economic Development Association and the Wyoming Game & Fish Department to showcase the Fremont County area as a premier outdoor recreation destination, promote the local economy and community, and inspire interest in and conservation of Wyoming’s wildlife resource.

Wyoming Outdoor Weekend Schedule of Events May 15 - 16, 2026

 – FREE event and open to the public!  All activities at the Lander Community and Convention Center, 950 Buena Vista Dr. unless otherwise noted.

Friday, May 15

  • 8:30 am – 3:00 pm – Pre Registered school kids rotate through learning stations
  • 4:00 pm – Open to the public
  • 5:00 pm – 6:30 pmHappy Hour, FREE drinks from Pushroot Brewery and Wind River Brewery with registration, and FREE appetizers 
  • 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm – Live Music! Details TBD
  • 8:00 pm – Event closes for the evening 

Saturday, May 16

Keep an eye out for a special appearance on Saturday from Mardy the Moose and Bobby the Beaver!!

MORE Opportunities

  • Saturday Seminars- Throughout the day, Saturday, May 16th, we are offering all kinds of seminars related to enjoying the outdoors.  See the Saturday schedule for details.
  • Shop Local Raffle: Sunday, May 10- Saturday, May 16 (6 pm end), To participate, shop at Lander businesses including all vendors present at the WOW (excludes fuel and groceries) and save your receipts from the week leading up to the event (May 11-17) to enter. You will receive 1 drawing entry for every $10.00 spent up to $500.00 or 50 tickets. Present your receipts during the event to claim your raffle tickets and enter for the prizes you desire. You can also purchase tickets for $1.00 each. The drawing will take place around 4:15 pm on Saturday, May 17 at the Lander Community Center preceding the WWF Wild Game Cook-Off. Some of the larger prizes require you to be present to win.
  • Medicinal Plant Hike with John Mionczynski: Saturday, May 16, Time TBD, Come and find out which plants were important as food and for medicinal use to the native inhabitants of this area.  This hike includes a mix of botany, history, and chemistry.  Please bring snacks, water, sturdy shoes, sunscreen and insect repellent.  A notebook and camera are also strongly recommended. John’s events usually fill up very quickly so we encourage you to show up early at the ***START LOCATION TBD***. 
  • Wild Game Cookoff with Wyoming Wildlife Federation: Saturday, May 16, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm  This event brings together sportsmen, conservationists and wildlife enthusiasts every year in support of wildlife conservation and the enjoyment of wild game. Teams will compete to create their best, most creative and delicious wild game, wild caught, and wild foraged dishes to be judged by both our WWF sanctioned judges and people’s choice! Winner’s of both categories will be announced at 7pm. If you are interested in preparing a dish or putting together a team, please fill out our interest form here! Tasting wild game is free, but a $20 entry fee covers a roll in our raffle ticket game and grants you the ability to judge dishes in the people’s choice category! We will have live music and beer will be available for purchase at the convention center.
