Welcome to Wyoming Outdoor Weekend & Expo, where we celebrate our Wyoming outdoors. Join us for our 10th Annual Event on May 17-18, 2024, at the Lander Community and Convention Center. Explore the premier outdoor recreation opportunities and vendors in Fremont County and the surrounding area. FREE ADMISSION: Immerse yourself in live music, free food, free beverages at Happy Hour on Friday from our local Pushroot Brewery and Wind River Brewery of Pinedale, climbing, shooting, archery, and more. Don’t miss the inspiring keynote speech by Dr. Matt Rinella of HuntQuietly.com. Come and be a part of our mission to promote the local economy, engage in conservation efforts, and experience the wonders of Wyoming’s wildlife resources. WOW Mission: The Wyoming Outdoor Weekend (WOW) has been put on through a partnership between the Lander Economic Development Association and the Wyoming Game & Fish Department to showcase the Fremont County area as a premier outdoor recreation destination, promote the local economy and community, and inspire interest in and conservation of Wyoming’s wildlife resource.

Friday, May 17

  • 8:30 am – 3:00 pm – Pre Registered school kids rotate through learning stations
  • 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM – Meet and Greet with Matt Rinella at Pushroot Brewery
  • 4:00 pm – Open to the public
  • 5:00 pm – 6:30 pmHappy Hour, FREE drinks from Pushroot Brewery and Wind River Brewery, and FREE appetizers sponsored by
  • 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm – Live Music – Candice & Madd Doggs, Pushroot, Nightfire, and Red Dangit
  • 8:00 pm – Event closes for the evening

  • 12:30 pm Turkey Calling Contest – Hosted by the NWTF. All ages welcome!

  • Shop Local Raffle: Sunday, May 12- Saturday, May 18 (4 pm end), To participate, shop at Lander businesses including all vendors present at the WOW (excludes fuel and groceries) and save your receipts from the week leading up to the event (May 12-18) to enter. You will receive 1 drawing entry for every $10.00 spent up to $500.00 or 50 tickets.   Present your receipts during the event to claim your raffle tickets and enter for the prizes you desire. You can also purchase tickets for $1.00 each. The drawing will take place around 4:15 pm on Saturday, May 18 at the Lander Community Center during the FREE WOW BBQ. Some of the larger prizes require you to be present to win. 
  • Dr. Matt Rinella, Hunt Quietly Movement: Friday, May 17th, 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM – Meet and Greet with Matt Rinella at Pushroot Brewery 595 Main St., Lander, WY. LIVE on Stage May 18th, at 5:15pm Dr. Matt Rinella is a research ecologist, lifelong hunter, and founder of the Hunt Quietly movement.  Matt co-hosts the Hunt Quietly podcast. They tackle tough issues related to hunting media, non-profits, hunter ethics, and fair chase, while promoting a culture of respect for wildlife, landowners, and fellow hunters. Whether you’re a seasoned hunter or new to the pastime, the Hunt Quietly podcast is your destination for informed, thought-provoking discussions about the future of hunting.   • Orienteering with Speed Goat Orienteering: Throughout the Event – Friday, May 17, 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm & Saturday, May 18, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Join us outside the Community Center for an introduction to Orienteering with two activities for ages 8-90 years: Maze O’ (on site) and Foot O’ (on nearby streets). Orienteering is a healthy activity for all ages and abilities that can be approached as a relaxed, at-your-own-pace activity or a competitive sport. Come test and improve your navigation skills and experience this fun activity. Visit the Speed Goat Orienteering booth to learn more.   • Tiger Open: LVHS Golf Fundraiser: Join us for the TIGER OPEN-LVHS Golf Tournament Fundraiser on Saturday May 18th, 2024, featuring a shotgun start at 10 am. For just $100 per player, gather your team of four for a thrilling 4-person scramble. Your registration fee covers golf, cart, and lunch. Additionally, take advantage of extra perks available for purchase on tournament day to enhance your experience. Save the date and join us for a day of golf, camaraderie, and supporting the LVHS Golf Team. Sign up at the Lander Golf Course or email Coach Watson at mwatson@landerschools.org – field is limited to 20 teams. 
  • Medicinal Plant Hike with John Mionczynski: Saturday, May 18, 10:00 am and 12:00 pm Come and find out which plants were important as food and for medicinal use to the native inhabitants of this area.  This hike includes a mix of botany, history, and chemistry.  Please bring snacks, water, sturdy shoes, sunscreen and insect repellent.  A notebook and camera are also strongly recommended. John’s events usually fill up very quickly so we encourage you to show up early at the NEW LOCATION Popo Agie Campground parking lot in Sinks Canyon State Park. For a limited time and while supplies last, your donation of $400 to the US 26 Wildlife Highway Crossing project includes a one-of-a-kind beer stein, custom made by a local artist from the Potters of the Wind River, and also includes FREE BEER at the Wyoming Outdoor Weekend in Lander, WY on May 17-18th, 2024. Each of the 40 steins available is custom made and unique and will be given out on a first-come-first-serve basis at the event on May 17th beginning at 4pm. Game & Fish Project: U.S. Highway 26/287

The 2024 WOW proceeds dedicated to habitat/wildlife will be going to the Game and Fish HWY 26 Project.  We are super excited to be supporting this crucial initiative that will have immense positive impacts on the deer along that stretch, and hope to raise a significant amount of money for the project.
